About the Role
We are looking for Steel Fixers who are willing to work across the country to support our diverse projects. Flexibility in work locations is preferred, as you may be asked to travel to various regions.
As a Steel Fixer, your responsibilities will include:
- Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using fasteners, rod bending machines, blowtorches, or hand tools.
- Spacing and fastening rods according to blueprints with wire and pliers.
- Determining the quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods based on blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions.
- Placing blocks under rebar to elevate the bars when reinforcing floors.
- Cutting rods to required lengths using metal shears, hacksaws, bar cutters, or acetylene torches.
- Cutting and fitting wire mesh or fabric, positioning it in concrete to reinforce the structure.
- Bending steel rods with hand tools or rod bending machines and welding them with arc-welding equipment.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A minimum of one year of relevant steel fixing experience or a qualification equivalent to NZQF level 2 or 3 is preferred.
- A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic are essential.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry.
- A sound knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Benefits
We offer competitive pay conditions, with a minimum hourly rate of $26 and a maximum of $40 per hour.
The position guarantees a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Work locations may include Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
This role is permanently full-time.
