About the Role
We are excited to invite applications for a position in our dynamic Emergency Department. If you are passionate about improving health outcomes for high Māori and high-needs populations, this could be the opportunity for you. Our Emergency Department is located in Whangarei, a region known for its rich culture and heritage, as well as its stunning coastal areas.
Whangarei Hospital serves as the major referral hospital for the Northland region, catering to a direct catchment area of approximately 170,000 residents. Our Emergency Department manages around 49,000 attendances annually, with 25% of those being paediatric cases. The department is staffed by 21 Senior Medical Officers and is accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for both Advanced Training and Paediatric Logbook Training. We take pride in our successful training programs for Part 1 and Part 2 trainees.
About the Location
Whangarei is situated in the "winterless north" of New Zealand, characterized by a warm climate, excellent schools, and affordable housing. The region offers a variety of scenic coastal areas for recreational activities. Additionally, Whangarei is conveniently located just a two-hour drive or a 25-minute flight from Auckland, the international hub of New Zealand. About You
To be considered for this position, you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in an Emergency Medicine Vocational scope of practice. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we are here to assist you with the application process for obtaining MCNZ registration.
