About the Role
We are looking for Psychiatrists to join our established and comprehensive mental health and addiction services in Northland. This opportunity includes both new and existing positions, and we welcome expressions of interest across a variety of subspecialties.
Our current specialties include:
- Infant Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Early Intervention in Psychosis
- Maternal and Infant Mental Health
- Adult Inpatient Unit
- Community Assessment Treatment Team (CATT) and Home-Based Treatment (HBT)
- Consultation-Liaison Team
- Intensive Community Treatment
- Community Adult Mental Health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs Service
- Adult Kaupapa Maori Mental Health
- Regional Dual Disability Service
- Psychiatry of the Older Persons
Our new, purpose-built facility, Manaia House, has recently opened in Whangarei. This facility brings together all community mental health and addiction services under one roof, featuring 75 consultation rooms and accommodating over 250 staff members. The design promotes team collaboration and the delivery of high-quality care.
The building is organized as follows:
- Ground Floor: Services for Adults and Older People
- Middle Floor: Services for Infants, Children, and Adolescents
- Top Floor: Offices and shared staff spaces

About You
To be considered for this role, you must have or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Psychiatry Vocational scope of practice. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration.
