About the Role
We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time general radiologist to join our department at Taranaki Base Hospital. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of radiologists and a wider multidisciplinary team. Our aim is to provide diagnostic excellence not only for the Taranaki community but also for the broader New Zealand community through enhanced data and digital connectivity.
Our department offers a range of advanced services, including:
- General X-ray
- CT
- MRI
- Interventional work
- Angiography
- Ultrasound
- Nuclear Medicine
- Fluoroscopy
All imaging modalities are state-of-the-art, with upgrades to CT, MRI, and ultrasound completed in 2022. We utilize an integrated regional RIS/PACS system.

- Director of Training: As we work towards becoming an accredited training facility with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology, we are looking for a Consultant Radiologist to lead our training program.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess essential skills in general plain film, ultrasound, CT, and MRI reporting. Desirable skills include a sub-specialty interest in areas such as musculoskeletal MRI, general interventional radiology (excluding intracranial work), CT colonography, cardiac CT, or nuclear medicine.
You should either hold vocational registration from the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for such registration through recognized postgraduate qualifications from another country. For self-assessment and registration pathways, please refer to the MCNZ website.
