About the Company
At Counties Manukau Health, we prioritize the health and well-being of our community. We are a values-driven and inclusive organization dedicated to delivering the best health outcomes for everyone we serve. Our workforce reflects the diverse population of South Auckland, and we actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, particularly from Māori and Pacific communities. Our core values include Valuing Everyone, Kindness, Togetherness, and Excellence, and we invite those who share these values to join our team.
About the Role
We are excited to offer a permanent position for a Senior Medical Officer in our dynamic Emergency Department at Middlemore Hospital, working at 0.775 FTE. Our Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Australasia, handling approximately 130,000 adult and pediatric presentations annually. As a Senior Medical Officer, you will play a critical role in leading our team during major trauma cases and providing high-quality care to a culturally diverse and high-need population residing in a lower socio-economic area.
Middlemore Hospital is designated as a Major Trauma Centre and sees around 300 major trauma patients each year. Our department is also a quaternary center for specialized cases involving spinal cord injuries, mangled limbs, and burns. We have a supportive environment with dedicated Trauma, Burns, and Spinal Cord teams, alongside an active trauma committee overseeing best practices in patient care.
Requirements
We are seeking suitably qualified candidates who are passionate about making a positive impact in our community. Candidates are encouraged to discuss the position further with our Emergency Department Clinical Heads, Dr. Sarah Bowker and Dr. Loana Tanielu.
