About the Role
We are seeking Orthopaedic Consultants to join our collaborative team at Middlemore Hospital and Manukau Health Park. In this permanent, full-time position, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality orthopaedic care to the diverse population of Counties Manukau. Your duties will include providing planned care, as well as managing acute cases and on-call commitments.
We invite applications from Orthopaedic Consultants who have experience in hip and/or knee arthroplasty. Given that Middlemore Hospital hosts one of the largest emergency departments in the southern hemisphere, a strong interest in trauma care would be advantageous.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Orthopaedic Service at Counties Manukau provides comprehensive secondary paediatric and adult elective and acute services. Additionally, we offer tertiary-level care in areas such as acute spinal cord impairment, pelvic trauma, and the mangled limb service in collaboration with our Plastic Surgery department. As a recognized training facility, we provide a wide range of orthopaedic subspecialties. Most acute work will take place at Middlemore Hospital, while elective surgeries and outpatient clinics will primarily be conducted at the Manukau Health Park site.

About You
The ideal candidate will possess a keen interest in trauma, as well as hip and knee arthroplasty, to align with the current needs of our department.
To be eligible for this role, you must:
- Hold an Annual Practicing Certificate with a vocational scope of Orthopaedic Surgery from the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Have Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or an equivalent qualification.
