About the Role We are seeking a Tutor Specialist to join our senior medical team for a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position, beginning on February 2, 2026, and concluding on January 31, 2027. This role involves providing specialist paediatric medical assessment and ongoing management for children and young people in our Acute, Inpatient, and Ambulatory settings. Key responsibilities of the Tutor Specialist include supervising and teaching our team of 28 resident medical officers in training, coordinating rosters, and providing guidance and support. This unique position will equip you with the skills and experience necessary for a consultant paediatrician role. You will receive excellent support and mentoring throughout your time with us. Additionally, this role requires participation in the general paediatrics consultant after-hours roster, which includes 1:6 weekend ward rounds and some overnight on-call duties, with full backup provided. About the Team/Service/Location At Kidz First, we take pride in our multidisciplinary team approach, which includes medical, nursing, and allied health professionals. We aim to optimise health outcomes for Pepe, Tamariki, and Rangatahi in our community. As one of the largest General Paediatric departments in New Zealand, we serve a culturally diverse population with significant health needs. About You We are looking for senior trainees who anticipate achieving Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians within the next 6-9 months, or a new RACP Fellow. Candidates must be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. We value team players who can collaborate across various services while respecting other disciplines. Successful candidates will demonstrate effective communication skills, critical thinking, and a commitment to addressing health inequities. Experience working with Māori, Pacific, and culturally diverse populations is preferred.
