About the Role We are currently seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our dedicated team at Te Whetu Tawera, the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit within the Auckland District Health Board. This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a requirement to participate in an on-call roster. Te Whetu Tawera houses a 58-bed unit, including a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, and provides care for the central Auckland population. Our team consists of highly skilled Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals who work collaboratively to assess, diagnose, and treat adults experiencing serious mental illness and severe psychological disorders. We emphasize recovery through active collaboration with service users, their families, and eight community mental health teams. We are located in a purpose-built facility at the main Auckland City Hospital site, adjacent to the Auckland University Medical School. This prime location offers easy access to the picturesque Auckland City Domain, scenic harbor views, and the vibrant amenities of central Auckland. We are looking for a proactive Psychiatrist with a keen interest in adult acute inpatient psychiatry. Our unit consists of four inpatient clinical teams, each led by a Consultant, a Registrar, and a House Officer. Requirements To be considered for this role, you must be a medical practitioner registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You should also be eligible for Vocational Registration in Psychiatry and hold an Annual Practising Certificate. We value a supportive and diverse clinical teaching environment, and candidates should be prepared to participate in the adult mental health Consultant on-call roster.
