About the Role
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and Nurse Unit Manager to oversee our services, ensuring the effective implementation of the Te Toka Tumai vision and strategy. As the clinical lead, you will be responsible for developing and guiding the service to meet agreed delivery objectives in alignment with the goals of Te Toka Tumai.
We encourage applications from individuals with a background in Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, Psychotherapy, or Registered Nursing, particularly those with experience in Mental Health and addictions.
About the Team/Service/Location
Clinical leadership is vital in enabling our teams to deliver the best care for our tangata whai ora.
The Liaison Psychiatry service is situated at Auckland City Hospital and offers specialized advice and consultation to various teams within Te Toka Tumai, particularly for individuals facing both physical and mental health challenges. Additionally, the service provides assessment and consultation for the Emergency Department at Auckland City Hospital.
The Awhi Matua Fraser McDonald Unit is a 15-bed acute admission facility located on the Auckland City Hospital grounds, specializing in the assessment and treatment of individuals experiencing acute mental illness or behavioral difficulties related to dementia.
Our Awhi Matua Mental Health Services for Older People caters to the central Auckland population, focusing on adults aged over 65 or those with age-related conditions, and is based at the Greenlane Clinical Centre.
The Regional Huntington's Disease Service operates in the Northern region, offering support to individuals in the symptomatic phase of Huntington's disease and providing consultation to local Community Mental Health Services, Liaison Psychiatrists, and Neurologists. This service is located in Pt Chevalier.
The Neurostimulation service at Auckland City Hospital delivers specialized consultation, assessment, and treatment for patients being considered for or currently receiving ECT and TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation).

About You
As the Service Clinical Director for Adult Mental Health services, you should meet the following minimum requirements:
- Hold an Annual Practicing Certificate and comply with the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA).
- Be a highly experienced and respected clinician with relevant skills and experience for this role.
- Demonstrate leadership experience.
- Show a proven commitment to quality, safety, and clinical governance.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively.
- Possess knowledge of the New Zealand Health Sector.
- Have a sound understanding of professional ethics.
