About the Role
In the role of Radiation Oncologist, you will become part of a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to delivering specialist care throughout Te Toka Tumai (Auckland) and Te Tai Tokerau (Northland). Your responsibilities will include managing patients across specific tumour streams, including Breast, GU, Head and Neck, Haematology, and Palliative care. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to clinical improvement initiatives, multidisciplinary care, teaching, and research.
This position offers a unique chance to be involved in a growing regional model of care, with plans for service expansion in Whangarei starting in 2026. You will play a vital role in providing high-quality radiation oncology services while also helping to advance regional equity and innovate care delivery methods.
About the Team / Service / Location
Our dedicated Radiation Oncology team consists of 23 Radiation Oncologists working within a well-resourced department that offers comprehensive cancer care, including services for paediatrics, brachytherapy, and Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR). We have established strong academic connections with the University of Auckland and maintain an active registrar training program with 13 Radiation Oncology trainees. About You
As a successful candidate for the Radiation Oncologist position, you will possess:
- Fellowship of the RANZCR Faculty of Radiation Oncology or an equivalent qualification
- Vocational registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Proven experience in one or more of the key tumour streams (Breast, GU, Head and Neck, Haematology, and Palliative)
- Proficiency in VMAT, SABR, and Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach with a strong interest in research and service improvement
