About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Psychiatrist to join our team at Te Whetu Tawera, the Adult Acute Inpatient Mental Health Unit for Auckland District Health Board. In this role, you will play a vital part in the recovery journey of our Tangata Whai ora, utilizing your expertise to enhance health outcomes.
This is a permanent, full-time position, comprising 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with the expectation of participating in the on-call roster. Our unit houses 58 beds, including a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit, and is supported by a team of skilled Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Allied Health professionals. Together, we provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for adults with severe mental illness and psychological disorders, in collaboration with service users, their families, and eight community mental health teams.
Our facility is purpose-built and conveniently located at the main Auckland City Hospital site, adjacent to the Auckland University Medical School and close to the picturesque Auckland City Domain and harbour.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must be medical practitioners registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand, eligible for Vocational Registration in Psychiatry, and possess an Annual Practising Certificate. You will thrive in our dynamic clinical teaching environment, which offers robust support and a diverse range of experiences. Participation in the adult mental health Consultant on-call roster is also a requirement.
