About the Role We are excited to announce that the Critical Care unit at Waikato Hospital is experiencing significant growth as we reform our services and expand the number of ICU level beds available. To support this initiative, we are seeking multiple Senior Medical Officers and Fellows to join our dynamic team and contribute to the revitalization of the Waikato Critical Care unit. About the Team/Service The Critical Care Department at Waikato Hospital serves as the tertiary provider for Intensive Care in the Midland region of New Zealand. Our 16-bed ICU facility, which opened in 2013, offers a comprehensive range of major tertiary services, including a major trauma center and the second largest cardiac surgical center in the country. We cater to the needs of approximately 1,500 ICU patients and nearly 3,000 High Dependency Unit (HDU) patients annually, providing neurosurgical care, regional burns care, and general and pediatric intensive care. Additionally, we operate a retrieval service for critical care patients by both air and road. We are proud to be a training unit accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM). About Hamilton Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, and serves as a leading tertiary teaching hospital for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. The hospital has approximately 722 inpatient beds, 22 operating theatres, and a dedicated outpatient clinic and procedure center. As a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Auckland, University of Waikato, and Wintec, we provide a dynamic learning environment and offer access to various research opportunities. Hamilton itself is a vibrant city alongside the scenic Waikato River, blending nature and culture seamlessly. You can explore the beautiful Hamilton Gardens, visit the Waikato Museum to learn about the region's history, or enjoy a day at the Hamilton Zoo. About You To be considered for this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience: - Hold or be eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand in the scope of practice of Intensive Care Medicine, and must be in good standing. - Hold FCICM, or UK FICM with CCT or equivalent qualifications.
