Te Whatu Ora Waikato District is a prominent healthcare provider in the Waikato region, offering specialized and emergency healthcare services to a patient population of approximately 1,007,000. Our facility is Waikato Hospital, a teaching hospital and the only major hospital in New Zealand that provides all surgical specialties on a single campus. About the Role
We are currently inviting applications for the Orthopaedics Registrar positions for the 2025/2026 training year. These full-time positions are intended for non-SET Registrars who have completed two years of post-graduate hospital experience, including exposure to various surgical disciplines.
This role presents a unique opportunity to gain extensive experience in the field of Orthopaedic surgery within our large tertiary hospital setting. We pride ourselves on providing an excellent training environment, characterized by strong supervision and ample opportunities for career planning and development.
Waikato Hospital features 550 general inpatient beds and conducts over 34,000 surgical procedures annually across our 24-theatre operating suite. Our emergency department manages around 220 presentations per day, reflecting our dynamic clinical environment.
Requirements
Candidates must have completed a minimum of two years of post-graduate hospital experience, including a diverse range of surgical exposure. We encourage applicants to ensure that their qualifications meet the criteria for registration to practice medicine in New Zealand.
