About the Role
We are seeking a part-time Kaiawhina (Health Care Assistant) to join our dedicated team at Kaikoura Health. This role presents a unique opportunity to support and give back to your community.
Your responsibilities will vary daily, depending on the needs of Kaikoura Health. You will collaborate with our nursing teams to ensure the facility operates smoothly and to its fullest potential in both Long Term Care and the Medical Acute areas. Your tasks may include:
- Supporting the nursing team in providing care and assistance to both residents and patients with daily activities and personal care needs, such as assistance with meals, moving and handling, and hygiene care.
- Cleaning and tidying the ward as well as managing stock and supply orders.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills:
- Strong customer service abilities
- Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to learn quickly
- Effective communication skills to build relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- A kind and caring nature
- A strong work ethic, as this role can be challenging and busy; your ability to multitask and take initiative will be crucial
- Knowledge of Te Reo Maori, Tikanga Maori, and Te Ao Maori is desirable
