About the Role At Heritage Lifecare, we prioritize our people, striving to create a supportive environment that balances work and life. We are currently seeking a full-time Diversional Therapist for our Waterlea Lifecare and Village in Blenheim. This role involves working five days on with three days off on a rolling roster, totaling 32 or more hours per week. As a Diversional Therapist, you will provide residents with opportunities to engage in a variety of activities tailored to their physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, and emotional needs. Your role will also encourage community involvement, making a significant difference in the lives of our residents. We are looking for someone with a bubbly and enthusiastic personality who genuinely enjoys working with residents. You should be able to creatively develop new activities that align with their interests and needs. Skills and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills: - A qualification in Diversional Therapy - Previous experience as a Diversional Therapist, particularly in psychogeriatric and dementia care - Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills - Excellent time management and prioritization abilities, with the capacity to multitask - The capability to lead a team and work cohesively within a collaborative environment - A current full driver’s license and confidence in driving a van - An understanding of Nga Paerewa sector standards and the application of Treaty of Waitangi principles in the workplace Due to the nature of our services, flexible availability for morning and weekend shifts is required.
