About the Company
At our family-owned business, we have been committed to providing exceptional fabric and upholstery solutions since 1988. With a strong presence in the marine, transport, agriculture, and aviation sectors, we operate across three busy workshops located in Nelson, Blenheim, and Havelock. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented Marine Upholsterer to join our team in Havelock and contribute to our legacy of quality craftsmanship.
About the Role
This position offers an exciting opportunity to enhance your career while enjoying the stunning scenery of Havelock, situated between Nelson and Blenheim, and adjacent to the picturesque Marlborough Sounds. Say goodbye to the stress of city life and embrace a lifestyle that includes paddleboarding after work and weekend fishing trips.
In this role, you will spend approximately 75% of your time working on marine-focused projects, such as luxury boat seats, biminis, clears, carpets, and bespoke covers. The remaining time will be dedicated to general upholstery tasks, vehicle interiors, shade solutions, and tarpaulins. You will primarily work from our Havelock workshop, though there is the option to be based in Blenheim, which is just a scenic 20-minute drive away.
Key Responsibilities
- Precisely measure, cut, and fabricate marine and outdoor textile products.
- Deliver high-quality work independently, taking pride in your craftsmanship.
- Work with a variety of materials, including canvas, PVC, mesh, and vinyl.
- Maintain positive client relationships and represent our brand in the local area.
About You
We are looking for a true craftsperson with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality. You should feel confident working independently and managing projects from inception to completion. Experience in marine or automotive upholstery is preferred, along with a passion for boats and the outdoors. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented attitude will also be essential for success in this role.
Your Benefits
- Competitive hourly pay ranging from $35 to $38, based on experience.
- Additional perks, including a company vehicle, phone, tablet, and relocation assistance.
- A flexible and family-friendly workplace culture, where you can even bring your dog to work.
- Support from a tight-knit team with regular catch-ups and opportunities for skill and career development.
If you are looking for a fulfilling role that allows you to take ownership of your craft and enjoy a better work-life balance, we encourage you to apply.
