Health Care Assistant - Ward M3 (Inpatient Renal Ward)
We are looking for a dedicated Health Care Assistant to join our Ward M3 team at Health New Zealand, Waikato. The successful candidate will be expected to work on a rostered rotating shift basis. About the Role
In this role, you will provide essential support to our busy inpatient renal nursing team. Working under the supervision of registered nurses, your primary responsibilities will include assisting patients with their daily living activities and encouraging their independence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating excellent verbal communication and time-management skills
- Implementing documented care plans to enhance patient outcomes
- Applying cultural safety principles in the workplace
- Carrying out assigned tasks such as ordering, cleaning, and restocking to ensure effective service delivery
- Contributing to quality improvement practices within the ward, including fall prevention, pressure area management, infection prevention and control guidelines, and safe manual handling techniques
About the Service
Ward M3 is a 16-bed inpatient renal ward that provides treatment and supportive care for patients with acute and chronic kidney disease from throughout the midland region. Since many renal conditions are chronic, our focus is on maximizing patient independence while empowering them to exercise choice over their treatment options and maintain control over their lives. About You
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience as a healthcare assistant and eligibility to work in New Zealand
- NZQA Level 3 Health Care Certificate, or willingness to participate in this program
- Ability to work rostered rotating shifts
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- A self-aware approach to your impact on others, with a commitment to personal leadership growth and improvement
