About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our busy Day of Surgery Admission (DOSA) team at Waikato Hospital. In this full-time, permanent position, you will support patients and nursing teams in both pre-operative and post-operative settings. You will work under the supervision of Registered and Enrolled Nurses, playing a key role in preparing patients for surgery or procedures.
This position entails working 80 hours per fortnight, with rostered rotating shifts from Monday to Friday. The shifts will be scheduled at 0645, 0830, 1100, and 1200, although these times may vary based on operational needs. A comprehensive orientation will be provided to the successful candidate upon appointment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine activities of daily living for patients under the delegation and direction of a registered nurse.
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
- Assist in transporting patients in beds to the operating theatre.
- Manage the luggage of patients scheduled for surgery.

About You

- Previous healthcare experience, ideally in a New Zealand hospital or emergency service.
- Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Excellent verbal communication and time-management skills.
