About the Role We are seeking a Housing Coordinator to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility for weekend hours as needed. While the position is preferably based in Hamilton, we are open to considering other locations within the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regions for the right candidate. As a Housing Coordinator, you will serve as the primary point of contact for tenants, landlords, and support networks. Your role will involve supporting Ember whaiora, tenants, and their support workers in finding and maintaining suitable housing. This includes navigating housing systems, coordinating move-ins, and providing both practical and emotional support. You will be an integral part of a team that strives to empower individuals to live fulfilling lives and challenge any barriers they encounter. Additionally, you will ensure the efficient operation of our services by overseeing maintenance needs in our Ember-owned properties, keeping tenancy systems updated, meeting legal requirements, and completing reports accurately and on time. Your contributions will be vital in helping Ember fulfill its responsibilities as a community housing landlord. Requirements To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and skills: - A New Zealand Certificate in Residential Property Management (Level 4) or a similar qualification is desirable, though we are willing to support the right candidate in obtaining this qualification. - Proven experience in community-based roles, particularly within the NGO sector, housing, mental health, or addiction services is preferred. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. - Excellent administrative and organizational skills. - Familiarity with Kāinga Ora and/or MSD, as well as knowledge of community housing systems and the Residential Tenancies Act, is highly desirable. - A full New Zealand Driver’s Licence is required. - A valid/current work visa, residency, or citizenship is necessary. - A genuine passion for supporting individuals in their recovery journey.
