About the Role
We are currently seeking a Water Meter Reader to join our Three Waters Team. This role is crucial for ensuring that accurate and timely readings are taken from all residential, commercial, and industrial water meters throughout the Central Otago district. We provide full training to help you succeed in this position.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will support meter reading schedules and identify any issues related to meters, such as incorrect locations, hazards, damaged equipment, or the need for route optimization. Building effective working relationships with other Council teams, building occupants, and the public is essential. You will engage professionally with customers, ensuring clear and respectful communication. Additionally, you will be responsible for traveling across the district, operating your vehicle safely while completing scheduled meter reads.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- Basic map reading skills
- Strong organizational skills
- A good level of fitness, with the ability to walk for long periods and bend frequently
- The capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- A full, current, and clean driver’s license
