About the Role
As a Steel Fixer, your primary responsibility will be to position and secure steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms. You will work with various tools, including fasteners, rod bending machines, and hand tools, to ensure that our projects are completed to the highest standards.
Flexibility is important, as you may be required to travel across the country to assist with different projects.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Positioning and securing steel components in concrete forms according to blueprints.
- Spacing and fastening rods using wire and pliers.
- Determining the quantities, sizes, shapes, and locations of reinforcing rods based on blueprints, sketches, or instructions.
- Placing blocks under rebar to ensure proper positioning when reinforcing floors.
- Cutting rods to required lengths using various tools.
- Fitting wire mesh or fabric and positioning it in concrete for reinforcement.
- Bending steel rods and welding them as necessary.
- Performing any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we require:
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in steel fixing or a qualification equivalent to NZQF level 2 or 3.
- A friendly disposition, strong time management skills, and a solid work ethic.
- A commitment to continuous learning and skill development within the industry.
- A sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Benefits
We offer a competitive pay structure, with hourly rates ranging from a minimum of $26 to a maximum of $40.
You will be guaranteed a minimum of 30 hours of work per week.
Additionally, you may occasionally be required to travel to various locations, including Auckland, Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Gisborne, Whanganui-Manawatu, Wellington, Marlborough, Nelson-Tasman, Canterbury, West Coast, Otago, and Southland.
This position is a permanent and full-time role.
