Our modern facility includes excellent amenities, such as an on-site gym and café. About the Role We are seeking a Fabrication Team Leader to join our team based in Islington, Christchurch. In this role, you will lead a small team of 3-4 individuals within our fabrication department and play a crucial role in daily operations. You will collaborate closely with various team members, including the Fabrication Line Manager, Site Manager, and other team leaders. We are looking for a candidate with proven knowledge and experience in light fabrication, particularly with stainless steel. A strong advocate for Health and Safety, you should also have substantial experience in leading a team within a manufacturing or engineering environment. This is a long-term role, and we want someone who is eager to integrate into our team. The position will involve hands-on work, with approximately 50% of your time spent "on the tools." The hours are generally Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, but we offer flexibility to accommodate your needs. We value enthusiasm for continuous improvement, which is a primary focus in our organization. Your responsibilities will include: - Leading the fabrication team to achieve production targets and goals - Collaborating with the Fabrication Line Manager on all site operations - Providing technical advice to the team, particularly to junior members - Performing hands-on fabrication work, including TIG welding and stainless sheet metal work - Inspiring and motivating the team - Fostering a strong focus on continuous improvement within the team and the business - Conducting regular reporting and meetings to support your team - Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures and investigating any incidents - Coaching and developing team members Role Requirements - A minimum of 10 years of experience in a fabrication environment is preferred, but we are open to negotiating based on your qualifications - Knowledge and experience in stainless sheet metal fabrication are essential - Experience in carbon steel fabrication is advantageous - Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and make decisions - Proficient IT skills, as daily tasks will involve computer use - Excellent understanding of Health and Safety procedures - Proven experience in implementing continuous improvement processes Benefits We offer competitive hourly rates and opportunities for career progression.
