About the Role
We are excited to present an opportunity for a Kia Ora Ake - Clinician to join our newly established, locally co-designed tamariki hinengaro wellbeing service in Counties Manukau. The Kia Ora Ake service is part of the national Mana Ake programme, which focuses on supporting tamariki aged 5-12, along with their whanau and schools, in addressing their mental and emotional wellbeing.
This is a full-time role based at our Lambie Drive, Manukau office, working Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). As a Clinician, you will utilize your clinical skills to support tamariki through both individual and group sessions, contributing to comprehensive school wellbeing strategies. You will also serve as a cultural and clinical change agent, embedding practices that align with the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and promoting culturally safe care.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting clinical assessments, treatment, and interventions for tamariki with mild-to-moderate mental health needs
- Delivering group-based or class-wide wellbeing sessions and activities
- Collaborating with whanau, schools, kura Maori, health providers, and other professionals
- Applying trauma-informed, strengths-based, and developmentally appropriate approaches
- Contributing to a safe, supportive, and inclusive team culture
- Supporting quality documentation, risk management, and service development
About You
We seek a skilled and compassionate clinician who thrives in collaborative, community-based environments. You should be culturally responsive, values-driven, and passionate about the wellbeing of tamariki.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification and full registration with a current APC (e.g., Social Worker, Nurse, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or DAPAANZ-registered Clinician)
- Experience working with tamariki and whanau, ideally in school, community, or mental health settings
- Confidence in clinical assessment, documentation, and safety planning
- The ability to coach and support others while working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- A full NZ driver licence and the ability to travel within the local area
