About the Company
Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is a national for-purpose organization dedicated to transforming lives. We provide essential services in mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, wellbeing, and housing. With a strong commitment to our values and a whanau-first approach, we collaborate with individuals, families, and communities to help them thrive.
About the Role
We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our Better Mental Health Outcomes - Central service, located at Springhill Prison in Te Kauwhata. This is a fixed-term position, available through June 30, 2026, with a choice of 32 or 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

You will also play a vital role in enhancing the capability of corrections staff to recognize and respond to mental distress.
Our service specifically supports individuals with mild to moderate mental health or cognitive needs during their transition back into the community, offering up to three months of supported living and navigation assistance. Referrals are managed through a panel that includes Corrections, Probation, and Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa.
About You
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced mental health professional who can thrive in a dynamic, kaupapa-aligned justice environment. You will engage closely with tangata whaiora, whanau, corrections staff, and other professionals to deliver culturally responsive and person-centered care.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Full Registration under the HPCA Act 2003 (as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, DAPAANZ, or Social Worker)
- A current Annual Practising Certificate
- At least two years of experience in mental health settings
- Training in evidence-based talking therapies
- A strong ability to assess, plan, and deliver brief interventions
- A collaborative approach to working across teams and services
- Confidence in engaging with tangata whaiora and whanau from diverse backgrounds
- Sound clinical judgment and excellent communication skills
Experience in corrections, justice, or forensic mental health settings is desirable.
