About the Role
We are currently seeking a Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health and Addictions Service. This is a permanent, full-time position requiring a commitment of 44 hours per week, which includes 42.5 office hours and an average of 1.5 hours for after-hours duties. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of specialists both internally and externally while maintaining strong working relationships.
Every day in this position brings new challenges, as you will encounter the full spectrum of psychiatry, from enduring mental illnesses to trauma, grief, and distress. You will be part of a caring team that values collaboration and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality clinical services to older individuals within the Te Whatu Ora Waikato boundaries.
- As a clinical expert, apply current knowledge, skills, and attitudes in psychiatry to clinical situations and team decision-making.
- Engage in clinical partnerships to ensure that tangata whaiora (people in need of care) and their whanau (families) receive integrated, appropriate, effective, and efficient assessment and care.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
- A Psychiatrist who is vocationally registered or eligible for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- A versatile and flexible clinician with a passion for teamwork.
- An individual who is enthusiastic about contributing to service enhancement.
- A clinician committed to addressing and eliminating health inequities.
About Our Service
Our Mental Health and Addictions Service is focused on providing specialized care for individuals over 65 years of age living in the Waikato District. We serve older adults with functional and organic conditions, co-existing mental health and physical health needs, or substance use problems. Our service includes a community team and an inpatient unit, ensuring cohesive and integrated care with established links to aged care facilities.
