We are guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and are committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. Our workforce is diverse and inclusive, allowing us to better understand and meet the needs of our community. About the Role
We are currently seeking a registered Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand who holds a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC). This full-time, permanent position involves working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will focus on providing psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions using evidence-based best practice principles, particularly for older adults. You will work directly with Tangata Whaiora, delivering psychological assessments and treatments. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to offer specialized consultations to colleagues and develop non-pharmacological care or management plans for Tangata Whaiora presenting with severe behavioral challenges.
Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the wider team to design care plans and advocate for the goals of Tangata Whaiora. You will also promote positive risk-taking and coordinate efforts to help individuals live well while building sustainable natural supports outside of specialist mental health and addiction services when possible. This role includes a case management component, and you will participate in an Urgent Clinician roster. As this is a community-based role, a full and clean driver's license is required.
About the Team/Service/Location
You will be joining the Awhi Matua Community Mental Health Team, which serves the central Auckland population of adults over 65 who are experiencing acute mental health challenges or behavioral difficulties associated with dementia. Our team supports individuals from acute crisis presentations through to continuing care. We are located at the Greenlane Clinical Centre, conveniently situated next to Cornwall Park in Epsom, Central Auckland.
