About the Role
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the Awhi Matua Fraser McDonald Unit, located at Auckland City Hospital. This is a permanent part-time position, working 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) from Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will provide expert psychological support to our whaiora (clients) and help facilitate care transitions between our inpatient unit, community teams, and other allied services, such as rest homes and private hospitals. You will also offer specialist consultation to our multidisciplinary team and play a vital role in delivering integrated, person-centered care that significantly impacts the lives of those we serve.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Awhi Matua Fraser McDonald Unit is a 15-bed acute admission unit that operates 24/7, providing specialist care to individuals experiencing acute mental illness or behavioral challenges associated with dementia. Our multidisciplinary team comprises Consultant Psychiatrists, Registered Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Nurse Educators, Mental Health Assistants, a Team Administrator, Registrars, and House Officers, all collaborating to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board with a Clinical Scope of Practice
- Hold a postgraduate degree in Clinical Psychology (or a recognized equivalent)
- Have recent, post-qualification experience in mental health (excluding student placements)
- Hold a current Annual Practising Certificate
- Possess a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence
