About the Role
We are currently seeking a Level 2, 3, or 4 NZQA Health and Wellbeing Support Worker to assist a client living with Multiple Sclerosis in Lower Hutt. This role requires a high level of complex support and a well-spoken, positive, and empathetic individual who understands the nuances of challenging behaviors. Your ability to offer patient and thoughtful support is essential, especially during difficult days.
As a fantastic support worker on our team, you will:
- Have a strong understanding of and experience with challenging behaviors
- Be familiar with the use of hoists
- Have experience working with clients who utilize power chairs
- Work collaboratively within a care team
- Be available for morning, late afternoon, and evening shifts
- Be comfortable providing full personal care, including showering and managing prolonged bowel stimulation
- Be competent in meal preparation
- Be willing to assist with shopping and pharmacy pick-ups
- Have good comprehension of directions and the ability to follow tasks accurately
Please note that full training and a thorough introduction will be provided by the existing care team to ensure a smooth transition and ongoing support.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, we need you to:
- Have consistent and long-term availability to ensure continuity with our clients
- Hold a current, clean full driver's license
- Have the legal right to work in New Zealand
- Possess a Level 2, 3, or 4 health qualification, as this is essential. Please note that applications without a health qualification may not be considered.
- Have previous experience as a caregiver or support worker with similar clients
- Be reliable, punctual, honest, and caring
