About the Role We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Officer/Head and Neck Clinical Fellow for a 12-month Fellowship position in our Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department, starting in July 2026. This role presents a unique opportunity to gain extensive experience in otolaryngology, particularly in ablative head and neck surgery. The successful candidate will operate independently under the mentorship of experienced consultants, engaging in both outpatient clinics and surgical operations, while also participating in the after-hours call roster. Key Responsibilities - Conduct outpatient clinics and perform surgeries independently, with guidance from senior colleagues. - Participate in the after-hours on-call roster, providing support in clinics, operating theatres, and formal teaching sessions. - Engage in research projects relevant to the field, with an aim for publication or presentation. - Ensure compliance with Te Whatu Ora and hospital policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including fellow medical professionals, nursing staff, allied health teams, and external agencies. Skills and Experience - You must be a registered medical practitioner with qualifications in Otolaryngology or be currently completing specialist training from the Royal Colleges or an equivalent institution. - Eligibility for registration to practice in New Zealand prior to commencement is required. - Demonstrated experience in Otolaryngology, supported by a minimum of three satisfactory professional references, is essential. - To learn more about gaining registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, please visit their website. Desired Skills - Strong leadership abilities and a high level of initiative. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills. - Ability to work effectively under pressure. - Sound clinical assessment skills with a comprehensive understanding of treatment options in Otolaryngology.
