About the Role
We are seeking applications for a full-time Adult Cardiologist with specialized training in electrophysiology and device management. This position is essential to meet the needs of our expanding Heart Rhythm Service at Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital, one of the leading hospitals in Australasia.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team of 29 cardiologists, including four other electrophysiologists. Your primary responsibilities will include managing cardiac arrhythmia issues for Te Toka Tumai Auckland City Hospital, which encompasses electrophysiology procedures and device implantation. Additionally, you will contribute to the provision of acute general cardiology care on the wards, as well as outpatient clinics and referrals.
We are looking for a colleague who is committed to advancing the Heart Rhythm Service and contributing to our departmental translational research portfolio, which aligns with our current clinical and academic activities.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our team provides a regional service for all Electrophysiology and Device procedures, as well as a national referral service for complex arrhythmias, lead extraction work, and structural heart disease. We also collaborate with the national Paediatric Arrhythmia Service. Our facilities include two Electrophysiology Laboratories equipped with advanced technology, including 3D mapping systems, radiofrequency, cryo-ablation, and pulsed field ablation, performing approximately 700 EP/ablation procedures annually. We implant around 700 cardiac devices each year, including leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous extravascular ICDs.
Te Toka Tumai comprises three major facilities: Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children's Hospital, and Greenlane Clinical Centre. Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand's largest public hospital and clinical research facility, with about one million patient contacts each year across various services. Our expertise spans all sub-specialties in adult cardiology, including coronary intervention, TAVI, complex electrophysiology, cardiac transplantation, and adult congenital cardiology.

About You
We are looking for a qualified adult cardiologist with subspecialty training in Electrophysiology and Device implantation. Candidates must hold FRACP or an equivalent international qualification and be registered or eligible for general registration as a Medical Officer with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Additional sub-specialty skills, such as lead extraction and managing cardiac arrhythmias in ACHD patients, would be advantageous.
