About the Role
We are seeking Specialist Anaesthetists to join our modern, world-renowned tertiary hospital in Auckland. This is a full-time, permanent position based at both Greenlane and Auckland City Hospital.
In the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, we provide comprehensive services across various surgical disciplines, including neurosurgery, ophthalmology, urology, trauma, intra-abdominal, breast, endocrine surgery, orthopaedics, vascular, solid organ transplantation, and interventional radiology. We also focus on acute and chronic pain management. Our patient population includes complex tertiary referrals, and engagement in short-stay anaesthesia at our Greenlane campus will be part of your responsibilities.
Our department is actively involved in clinical research and has strong partnerships with the ANZCA Clinical Trials Network and the University of Auckland. We regularly participate in multi-centre trials and contribute to authorship and governance. Additionally, we offer a robust teaching program, with several specialists serving as primary and final examiners for ANZCA examinations and holding significant leadership roles within ANZCA and NZSA.
As a part of our organization, you will be contributing to the health and well-being of a diverse population, where achieving equitable outcomes is a priority, particularly for our Māori community. Experience and expertise in delivering healthcare within a culturally safe framework, along with a commitment to equity, are essential for this role.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess clinical experience in pain management and some or all of the subspecialty areas mentioned. You should be either registered or eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
