About the Role
We are excited to offer a position as a Dental House Officer starting on January 18, 2026. In this role, you will work within a busy hospital environment, gaining valuable clinical experience while providing care to both outpatients and inpatients. You will rotate between the Auckland Regional Hospital Specialist Dentistry service and the Auckland Regional Oral Maxillofacial service, allowing you to be involved in a diverse range of dental and maxillofacial care.
As a Dental House Officer, you will receive support from senior clinicians as you develop your skills in various areas, including:
- Management of maxillofacial and dental trauma
- Dental care for medically complex patients
- Paediatric dentistry
- Oral medicine and pathology
- Oral surgery
This hands-on experience will serve as an excellent foundation for a career in private practice or for those considering future specialist studies. You will be part of a collaborative team of dental house officers and registrars working across multiple hospital facilities in Auckland, including Middlemore Hospital, Auckland Hospital, Starship Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre, and Buckland Road Dental Centre.
Requirements
We welcome applications from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year graduates. To be considered for this position, please ensure you provide the following documents with your application:

- Certified or notarised documents, including:
- Academic Transcript indicating that you are progressing towards a BDS qualification
- Photo ID page of your current passport (and Visa if applicable)
- Current full driver's license (to be obtained prior to starting)
- Any post-graduate qualifications
- Current ACLS - NZRC Core Immediate CPR certificate (Level 8 or equivalent), with a preference for NZRC CORE Advanced (you may complete this course before starting if successful)
If you have lived overseas, please ensure you have provided or initiated the process for police certificates from all countries of citizenship and from any country where you have resided for one or more years in the last ten years (excluding New Zealand, as we will request this).
