About the Company
At the Waikato Regional Cancer Centre, we are dedicated to providing exceptional cancer care to our community in Hamilton, New Zealand. Serving a population of 550,000, our team of approximately 120 professionals operates within a comprehensive Oncology Department, which includes facilities for Radiation Therapy and Chemotherapy outpatient treatments, an Inpatient Ward, a Palliative Care Service, and a Haematology Outpatient Department.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Booking Clerk/Administrator to join our Oncology Service team in a permanent full-time capacity. This role requires 40 hours of work per week, scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. As a key member of our team, you will play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cancer outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Booking outpatient appointments
- Attending to and departing patients
- Communicating with staff, patients, and their families
- Handling telephone inquiries and performing general reception duties
- Organizing and distributing patient documentation
- Maintaining accurate computer records
- Performing additional administrative duties as required
About You
To be considered for this role, the following skills and experience are essential:
- A knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload effectively
- Exceptional customer service skills, particularly over the telephone, along with excellent interpersonal abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- A positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively within a team
Ideally, you will have a minimum of three years of experience in the health sector, along with general reception and customer service experience, and possess strong computer and typing skills.
