About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about research and eager to make a hands-on contribution to our collaborative team. This role will support exciting projects in plant and soil science and includes a combination of lab work, data analysis, and administrative support. You will have the opportunity to enhance your skills in a dynamic research environment.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Supporting research milestones and experiments
- Isolating proteins, metabolites, DNA, and RNA from samples
- Analyzing Next Generation Sequencing data
- Working in PC2 lab facilities and the Biotron
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Assisting with project-related administrative tasks
This is a fixed-term position concluding in August 2027, requiring a commitment of 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE) at our Lincoln Campus. The salary for this role is fixed at $70,500 per annum.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A relevant qualification or experience in plant or agricultural science
- Familiarity with lab techniques and sequencing data analysis
- Experience with tools such as CLC Genomics Workbench and Cytoscape
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- The ability to adhere to protocols and work collaboratively
- A full New Zealand driver's license for travel to research sites
- Alignment with the values of Manaakitaka and Lincoln University
