As a proudly family-owned business, we have built our reputation on delivering exceptional customer service and fostering innovation. Our commitment to our team’s success is reflected in our core values, where we prioritize doing what’s right and maintaining strong connections with our customers.
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated individual to support and assist all production teams in ensuring the availability and reliability of our electrical and mechanical plant on site. Your role will be essential in achieving the performance levels outlined in our Business Plan.
Key Responsibilities
You will respond to plant breakdowns and failures as identified by the Production Supervisor, Production Team, or Maintenance management. Your responsibilities will include planning and executing maintenance tasks, both scheduled and emergent, relevant to the equipment on site.
In this role, you will implement and develop routine maintenance checks and associated standard maintenance procedures. You will ensure that equipment, materials, and tools are readily available for effective work execution. Additionally, you will report on resources and time utilized, job scope expansions, rework, or any deferred maintenance as required.
An important aspect of your role will involve ensuring the availability of mechanical and/or electrical spare parts for scheduled and projected jobs. This includes managing spare inventory, checking and managing mechanical and electrical spares, and overseeing the equipment refurbishment process for these parts. You will also assist in the development and application of safe and practical machinery isolation practices while complying with job safety environmental assessments (JSEAs) and safety operating procedures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need proven electrical and mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. A qualified tradesperson status, along with a Mechanical and Electrical Trade Certificate, is essential.
You must hold a New Zealand Electrical registration, and experience in instrumentation and automation is required. Basic PLC navigation experience is advantageous. Flexibility to support day and night shifts, as well as on-call and callout duties, is necessary. A full New Zealand driver’s license (class 1) is required, and a proactive approach to problem-solving with an awareness of cost control is highly valued.
Benefits
At Hynds, we are committed to maintaining high levels of health and safety. Therefore, all candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and an alcohol and drug screening, as well as satisfactorily passing a criminal history check. It is also essential that you have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
