About the Role
We are currently looking for an Electrical Fitter to join our Substation Services team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing network repairs, maintenance, and construction services for WEL's network. You will also support the reliability of our network assets by conducting inspections, primarily focusing on substations, ring mains, and transformers.
Duties
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing substation equipment and performing construction, maintenance, and repair tasks on the 11kV and 33kV network.
- Conducting inspections, performing condition assessments, and documenting asset conditions.
- Testing and commissioning electrical equipment.
- Conducting cable testing and fault finding.
- Participating in a callout roster for 24-hour fault response and repair.
- Collaborating with the control center, dispatch and operations staff, as well as other utilities and authorities.
Skills and Experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:
- Extensive technical knowledge and a current electrical registration.
- Experience as a switching operator is preferred.
- The ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
