About the Role
We are currently looking for casual support workers in Nelson to cover leave for our permanent Support Workers. This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain valuable experience across a variety of our services, including community mobile, respite, residential, and recovery.
Please note that the hours are not regular and will be offered based on availability. If you are seeking a flexible role, we would love to hear from you.
As a Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Setting goals and building confidence with clients
- Assisting individuals in securing employment or housing
- Supporting clients with budgeting and independent living skills
- Attending appointments and advocating for clients
- Helping individuals connect with their communities
- Providing medication support when necessary
- Aiding clients with their daily routines
- Maintaining household environments
- Supporting individuals in managing distress
- Being prepared to assist with various tasks, including cleaning, cooking, gardening, and other daily activities
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should ideally have experience as a Support Worker. You are required to hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 4) or a recognized equivalent. We encourage you to verify your qualification's equivalency through the provided link. Please ensure to upload your NZCHW Level 4 certificate or equivalent qualification with your application.
Additionally, you must:
- Hold a full driver's license
- Have a comprehensive first aid certificate covering unit standards 6400, 6401, and 6402
- Demonstrate knowledge of and a commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
