About the Role
As a Programme Leader, you will take charge of a team of support workers who are passionate about making school holidays enjoyable for children with intellectual disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to foster a safe, secure, and healthy space for children to engage in meaningful activities during their time off from school.
In this role, you will report directly to the Service Coordinator and will be responsible for facilitating a structured, strengths-based programme. Your leadership will involve guiding your team, managing resources, and ensuring effective communication with children, their families, and your colleagues.
This is a fixed-term position offering 40 hours of work per week, covering two or more consecutive weeks from September 22nd to October 4th, coinciding with the Term 3 school holidays.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- A full New Zealand driver’s license
- The ability to pass a New Zealand police check and an Oranga Tamariki check
- Previous experience in caring for children with disabilities is preferred, but not essential
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, their families, and team members, including the ability to adapt to various communication styles
- Proven leadership skills to coach and develop team members, along with troubleshooting capabilities
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities and a solid understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
- Strong organizational skills to manage rosters and coordinate the booking calendar for attendance
