About the Role
We are excited to announce an opening for a Paediatric Palliative Care Fellow within the Starship Palliative Care Service. This position offers a unique opportunity to join an experienced and professional paediatric team, engaging in a wide variety of practice within a tertiary children's hospital.
In this role, you will develop advanced clinical skills in paediatric palliative care, while also having the opportunity to engage in research or innovation in an area of your choosing. Additionally, you will contribute to the winter nights registrar roster.

About the Team/Service/Location
The Starship Palliative Care Service is located at Starship Children's Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. We provide specialized paediatric palliative care to children facing serious illnesses, including life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, along with support for their families across the Northern region (Te Toka Tumai, Counties Manukau, Waitemata, Te Tai Tokerau).
Our team consists of senior medical officers, nurse specialists, a psychotherapist, a social worker, and administrative staff, all dedicated to providing expert assessments and interventions for children and adolescents in our care. We pride ourselves on creating a friendly and motivated work environment that values teamwork, collaboration, and equity while upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

About You
To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Completion of basic paediatric training with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and registration as an advanced trainee
- General scope of registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- A keen interest in the holistic and medical management of paediatric palliative care patients
You will need to work closely with an interdisciplinary team while also demonstrating the ability to operate autonomously in a multicultural environment. Collaboration and teamwork are essential, and we encourage a focus on equity in all aspects of care.
