About the Role
We are seeking expressions of interest for a Palliative Care Physician or Medical Officer to join our team at Taranaki Base Hospital. This is a flexible opportunity for both experienced specialists and those aspiring to specialize in Palliative Medicine, with strong connections to the local Te Rangimarie Hospice.
In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with life-limiting illnesses. You will be supported by an experienced team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and work within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
Your responsibilities will include conducting inpatient consultations, providing support to primary palliative care providers, and participating in service development. The position offers flexibility regarding full-time or part-time hours, allowing you to tailor the role to fit your lifestyle and career aspirations.
About the Team/Service/Location
This position is part of the Department of Medicine team, and we are open to candidates with an interest in or dual approach to Internal Medicine. Currently, there are no on-call or weekend commitments associated with this role.

About You
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Vocational registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- Fellowship in Palliative Medicine or a relevant medical discipline (such as General Practice or Internal Medicine)
- A commitment to delivering holistic, person-centred care
- Experience working within interdisciplinary teams
- A passion for service improvement and equity in end-of-life care
