About the Role
We are currently seeking a permanent full-time general radiologist to join our department at Taranaki Base Hospital. In this role, you will collaborate with a dynamic team of radiologists and a wider multidisciplinary team. Our goal is to deliver diagnostic excellence not only to the Taranaki community but to the broader New Zealand community through our data and digital connectivity.
As part of our department, you will have access to state-of-the-art modalities, including:
- General X-ray
- CT
- MRI
- Interventional work
- Angiography
- Ultrasound
- Nuclear Medicine
- Fluoroscopy
All imaging modalities were upgraded in 2022, and we utilize an integrated regional RIS/PACS system.

- Director of Training: We are in the process of becoming an accredited training facility with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology and are looking for a Consultant Radiologist to lead our training program.

About You
We are looking for candidates with essential skills in general plain film, ultrasound, CT, and MRI reporting. Desirable skills may include a sub-specialty interest in areas such as musculoskeletal MRI, general interventional radiology (excluding intracranial work), CT colonography, cardiac CT, or nuclear medicine.
Candidates should either hold vocational registration from the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for registration based on recognized postgraduate qualifications from another country. For guidance on self-assessment and registration pathways, please consult the MCNZ website.
Relocation assistance may be available, and we offer a generous continuing medical education allowance along with remunerated leave.
