    Location: Hutt Hospital Radiology Department Contract: Casual (8-hour shifts, with start times at 7:00 AM, 7:30 AM, or 12:00 PM) About the Company Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and aims to provide quality health services to all New Zealanders. About the Role We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our Radiology Services at Hutt Valley Hospital as a casual staff member. This position is designed to cover roster and staff leave within our Radiology Department, which serves the populations of the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa areas. Our department receives referrals from a diverse range of clinical services, including regional Plastic Surgery and Rheumatology, as well as two Emergency Departments. We provide X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRI, and CT scans. Health Care Assistants primarily work in CT and Ultrasound, assisting with workflow and patient care. We will provide a full orientation for successful candidates. About the Team/Service Location Our Radiology Department consists of a friendly, professional team of approximately 80 staff members who are dedicated to ensuring the best possible care for our patients. Our team includes Radiologists, Sonographers, Medical Imaging Technologists, MRI Technologists, Nurses, Health Care Assistants, an Administration/Bookings Team, and Data/IT/Quality staff. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive workplace culture, with a strong emphasis on professional development and well-being. Our department is committed to continuous quality improvements and building constructive relationships with our clinical colleagues. Additionally, our Radiology Department holds International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) accreditation. About You As a Health Care Assistant (HCA), you will play a vital role in supporting the nursing and midwifery team by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, Registered Nurses (RNs), or Midwives (RMs) to meet the needs of patients and clients. Essential Qualifications, Accreditations, Skills, and Experience: - Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent, or willingness to complete within specified timeframes - Previous experience in a healthcare setting is desirable - A friendly, caring, and empathetic demeanor - Ability to act calmly and quickly in emergencies - Capability to follow instructions - Strong communication skills - Comfort in dealing with illness and distressing medical situations - Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi - Dedication to delivering an exemplary standard of care - Innovation and critical thinking skills - Commitment to sustainable practices Working at Health New Zealand At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are dedicated to “weaving wellness” for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
