Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders, firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We are committed to providing excellent healthcare and ensuring that our services reflect the diverse needs of our community.
About the Role
Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual looking to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit community? We are seeking a Health Care Assistant to join our small yet dynamic team in the Outpatient Department of our rural New Zealand hospital.
In this role, you will not just be another member of the healthcare system; you will be a trusted and valued part of a team that is genuinely focused on improving the lives of patients and their whanau. Here, your contributions matter. You will engage in meaningful, hands-on work within a supportive environment where your efforts are appreciated, your voice is heard, and your well-being is prioritized.
As a Health Care Assistant in our outpatient clinic, you will thrive in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Your responsibilities will include preparing consultation rooms, organizing equipment, and ensuring that patients feel welcome and comfortable. Throughout the day, you will assist with patient check-ins, support Ophthalmology clinics with basic testing, aid Audiology clinics, assist clinical staff during minor procedures, and facilitate smooth patient flow between appointments. You will also handle administrative tasks such as updating patient records and maintaining cleanliness and infection control standards. Your friendly and reassuring presence will help keep the clinic running efficiently and ensure that patients feel supported from the moment they arrive.
Life beyond the hospital is equally rewarding. Surrounded by stunning landscapes and a genuine sense of community, this role offers a lifestyle that balances purpose and tranquility. Whether you seek to escape the hustle of urban life, advance your skills, or be part of something meaningful, this position allows you to contribute to the future of rural healthcare—one connection at a time.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our outpatient team is a vibrant, multidisciplinary group comprised of nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. We support a diverse rural population and manage a wide range of clinics, from general medicine to specialist visits and follow-ups. While you will assist across all clinics, your primary focus will be on Ophthalmology and Audiology. We prioritize collaboration and communication, fostering a welcoming and well-organized environment where patients feel supported and staff feel valued.
