About the Role
We are seeking a Registered Health Professional who is a member of a regulatory body to join our friendly, supportive, and experienced multidisciplinary team within the Community Mental Health and Addiction Services (CMHAS). This full-time position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) involves providing mental health and addiction services to our service users, known as tangata whaiora.
The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health and/or addictions, along with the necessary case management, clinical assessment, and treatment intervention skills. You will play a crucial role in supporting individuals on their journey to achieve positive health and wellbeing outcomes in their recovery.

Our Community Mental Health and Addiction Services team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, responsive services. About You
This position requires a variety of essential skills and knowledge that extend beyond the usual qualifications, NZ registration with a professional body, and a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
The requirements for this role include:
- Demonstrating high levels of clinical knowledge in mental health disorders, psychiatric and addiction medications, and risk management.
- Utilizing therapeutic modes of intervention that are person-centered, family-friendly, and aligned with a recovery model.
- A minimum of three years of experience in case load management, addressing co-existing problems, and delivering clinical and psychosocial care in diverse community settings.
- Proven practical experience as a registered health professional in mental health and addiction clinical environments, particularly with adult addiction and co-existing mental health issues.
- Strong communication and customer relations skills, along with the ability to manage diversity with empathy and bi-cultural sensitivity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and the capability to quickly learn new software packages. A police clearance and a current clean driver’s license are also required.
- A compassionate understanding of mental health wellbeing and the ability to provide interventions that align with Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora - Whanganui's strategic direction for Thriving Communities (He Hapori Ora) for 2020-2023.
