About the Role
We are currently looking for an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) Registrar to join our Otolaryngology Maxillofacial department at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of inpatients under the supervision of a designated consultant. You will also play a critical role in assessing and treating patients with acute surgical needs.
Although this position is not accredited for formal training, we are committed to delivering training experiences that are comparable to those offered in accredited positions. Our goal is to adequately prepare candidates for future formal training opportunities.
About the Team/Service/Location
As a successful candidate, you will become part of a close-knit team consisting of two Registrars and will receive comprehensive support from five ENT Consultants. You will work alongside one ENT/Maxillofacial Registrar, one House Officer, and a dedicated team of six clinic specialty nurses. Our collaborative team offers a diverse range of services, including Otology, Rhinology, and Head and Neck surgery, with a significant focus on skin cancer surgery in these areas.
Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400-bed secondary level public hospital located in Hastings, catering to a population of over 180,000 people. We provide both acute and elective care across a wide array of medical and surgical specialties, including paediatrics and obstetrics and gynaecology. While we do not offer cardiothoracic or neurosurgery, we are well-supported by a strong regional ICU team, ensuring comprehensive care for our diverse patient population.

About You
We are looking for a candidate who is a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at PGY3 level or above. While previous experience in ENT is desirable, it is not a requirement. Candidates must be registered or eligible for general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
