About the Role
We are currently seeking an Intensive Care Consultant to join our Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit in Te Matau a Maui, Hawke's Bay. This role is ideal for an Intensive Care Consultant looking to find a fulfilling balance between engaging work and a desirable lifestyle.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a Level 2 facility that provides intensive care for both adults and children. The unit has a diverse and interesting case mix, offering complex multisystem life support capabilities, including non-invasive and mechanical ventilation, extra-corporeal renal replacement therapy, and invasive cardiac monitoring.
The ICU features a total of 13 beds, accommodating both High Dependency Unit (HDU) and ICU level care. Our dedicated team includes nine ICU specialists, one Fellow, and 14 Registrars. Intensive Care Physicians within our department maintain a high clinical profile and are dedicated to delivering exceptional medical care. In addition to clinical responsibilities, we offer various opportunities for teaching, aeromedical transport, ICU leadership, research, quality improvement initiatives, and supervision of trainees.

About You
To be considered for this role, applicants must be registered or eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as an Intensive Care Physician. Candidates should possess either Fellowship of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) or an equivalent qualification that leads to specialist recognition. A strong commitment to providing high-quality service to the community is essential.
Additionally, we are looking for candidates with experience in a wide range of Intensive Care Medicine procedures, as well as proven experience in supervising and teaching junior medical staff.
