Currently, we are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Interior Tilers to join us at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the upcoming summer season. About the Role The summer season at McMurdo Station runs from October 2025 to March 2026. We anticipate deployment around October, with return dates to be confirmed at a later stage. This position is ideal for individuals looking for a challenging yet rewarding experience in one of the most isolated and beautiful places on Earth. Please note that due to travel restrictions, we can only accept applications from New Zealand and US citizens who currently reside and work in New Zealand and possess a valid New Zealand or US passport. What’s on Offer? - Flights will be provided from any major New Zealand airport. - Food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance will be covered. - The hourly wage is $66.11, based on a contract arrangement, paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars for a 54-hour work week. - All personal protective equipment (PPE) will be supplied. Working in construction in Antarctica is unlike any other experience, requiring dedicated team players who are willing to contribute across various tasks. In this role, you will be involved in a large commercial construction project focused on interior fit-out work. Your responsibilities will include: - Surface preparation - Waterproofing - Laying floor and wall tiles - Grouting - Ensuring a high-quality finish throughout Attention to detail and consistency are crucial, as the work may involve repetitive tasks. Experience in commercial tiling is essential. What’s the Catch? There are several important considerations for this role: - You must be willing to receive the Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations. - These positions are not 'fly in, fly out' (FIFO); you will be on-site for an extended period. - You will work long hours, typically six days a week. - Start dates are approximate and contingent upon passing medical and dental checks, receiving security clearance, and the availability of ice flights. - A pre-employment drug and alcohol test is required. - A Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are mandatory. - Please be aware that the application process can be lengthy, requiring patience as you navigate through it. - You will need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, and we will cover the costs of testing and flights if you are coming from outside the Bay of Plenty region.
