About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Planner to join our busy Engineering Department at our Canterbury plant located on Seafield Road, Ashburton. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting directly to our Engineering & Site Services Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the planning and scheduling of preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes. You will also develop and implement work order flow management standards, including work scopes and estimates that encompass labor, material, equipment, and service requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the weekly forecasting plan is prepared and available on time
- Distributing weekly forecasting work packs promptly
- Running and distributing reports necessary for effective planning and scheduling
- Preparing shutdown plans for process areas, including both minor routine and major shutdowns
- Conducting and coordinating planning meetings and briefing sessions
- Maximizing resource utilization for maintenance work
- Providing required reports for both internal and external customers
- Planning the functions of the maintenance team to ensure effective completion of work
- Promoting a proactive safety culture within the team and among contractors
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- A Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate or relevant Engineering qualifications is desirable
- Supervisory and maintenance knowledge
- A minimum of 5 years of experience post-trade and at least 3 years in a similar supervisory or leadership role
- Financial skills, including estimating, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting
- A sound understanding of technical maintenance techniques
- Familiarity with production processes, including technical processes and equipment
- Experience in shutdown and maintenance planning
- Proficiency with CMMS, MS Project applications, and Excel
