    About the Company At Extrastaff, we are a leading Labour Hire Company dedicated to providing skilled professionals for infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand. We pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. About the Role We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team. This role offers a permanent position with a minimum guaranteed 30 hours of work per week. The pay ranges from $26.00 to $40.00 per hour, depending on experience. Our technicians will be deployed to various construction sites based on project demands, allowing for diverse and engaging work experiences. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to ensure our team members can perform their duties safely and effectively. Key Responsibilities As a Construction Technician, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that align with your skills and capabilities. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks while delivering exceptional customer service. - Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level. - Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete. - Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and installing hardwood or wood-strip-block floors. - Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding them using appropriate tools. - Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms. - Performing general labor tasks, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers. - Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around job sites. - Completing other duties as assigned. Requirements We welcome applicants with some experience in the construction industry, although this is not mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: - A friendly demeanor with strong time management and work ethic. - Commitment to learning and skill development within the industry. - Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures. - Reliability and a strong work ethic. - Experience in fabricating and installing custom joinery and cabinetry. - Proficiency in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves. - Ability to measure and cut materials accurately. - Capability to work as part of a team while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. - Willingness to collaborate with other trades when necessary. - Must be able to pass a criminal check and drug test. Nationwide Opportunity and Travel While this role is listed in Canterbury, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand. We seek candidates willing to travel or relocate as needed. The regions include: North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington. South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland. Relocation costs will be covered by the company.
