Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading recruitment agency with a commitment to connecting skilled tradespeople with unique job opportunities. We are currently seeking experienced interior tilers to join our team for a remarkable opportunity at McMurdo Station in Antarctica during the upcoming summer season.
About the Role
The season runs from October 2025 to March 2026, with deployment expected around October. This role offers a chance to work in one of the most isolated yet stunning locations in the world. It is essential to note that these positions are not suited for everyone; candidates should be prepared for a lengthy stay in a remote environment.
Due to travel restrictions, we can only accept applications from New Zealand and US citizens who hold New Zealand or US passports and are currently residing and working in New Zealand.
Requirements
The role involves construction work in Antarctica, which is unlike any other environment. We seek hard-working team players who are willing to contribute across various tasks. As an interior tiler, you will be involved in a large commercial construction project focused on interior fit-out work. Responsibilities will include:
- Surface preparation
- Waterproofing
- Laying floor and wall tiles
- Grouting
- Ensuring a high-quality finish
Attention to detail and consistency are critical, and experience in commercial tiling is essential.
Additionally, candidates must be willing to receive the Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccines. Please be aware that these roles are not 'fly-in, fly-out' positions. You will work long hours, typically six days a week. Start dates are approximate and dependent on passing medical and dental checks, obtaining security clearance, and ice flight availability.
A Full Class 1 NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record are required, and candidates must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. The application process can be lengthy, so patience is necessary. You may need to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, with testing and flights covered for those traveling from outside the Bay of Plenty.
Benefits
We offer a competitive compensation package, including:
- Flights provided from any major New Zealand airport
- Food and shared accommodation
- Travel insurance
- A pay rate of $66.11 per hour, contracted on a basis of 54 hours per week, with payments made fortnightly in NZD
- All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) supplied
This role is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity. You will have the chance to save money while gaining invaluable experience and building lasting friendships. If you have ever dreamed of taking on such an adventure, we encourage you to apply.
